Passage: 2 Corinthians 4:7-12

Series: 2 Corinthians

Ministry and the Christian life is a call to suffer (Mt. 10.16, Rom. 8.35-36; Acts 9.15-16; 2 Tim. 2.1-3; 3.12; Col. 1.24; 1 Pet. 2.21).

1. THE GOSPEL WORKING THROUGH FRAILTY

We carry the treasure of the gospel (2 Cor. 4.4, 6).

We carry the power of the gospel: to convict (John 16.8); to convert (Rom. 1.16; 10.17); to transform (2 Cor. 3.18 cf. Rom. 15.18).

2. THE GOSPEL WORKING THROUGH SUFFERING

To follow the Lord is to suffer for the Lord (Acts 5.41; 9.15.-16; 2 Thess. 1.4-5; 1 Pet. 4.19; Phil. 3.7-8)

What man is susceptible to God is protecting him from.

2.1, Afflicted but not crushed

2.2, Perplexity but not despair

2.3, Persecution but not abandonment

2.4, Down but not destroyed
